Behind The Scenes: Soren Liv

At Newton Kay, we take pride in selecting pieces that tell a story. One of our trusted suppliers for modern and elegant furniture is Soren Liv, a brand known for offering high-quality pieces that perfectly complement our clients' homes, while offering a high-end element of design. In this interview, we chat with Ashlee Hobdon from Soren Liv to learn more about their furniture collections and design philosophy.

Tell us about Soren Liv.
We are suppliers of beautiful furniture for residential and commercial projects across New Zealand. We are the exclusive distributor of Australian furniture brand GlobeWest, but also have our own New Zealand made pieces.

We work with a range of clients, from residential homes to hotels, workplaces, retirement living, multi-residential developments and more.

What makes Soren Liv different is having a wide range of furniture, offering true design diversity to projects. We also take a lot of time to partner with our clients and help them realise their vision; we like to see ourselves as an extension of your team where we can.

What’s something you wish more professionals and customers knew about Soren Liv?
We love our GlobeWest products, but we can offer beautiful New Zealand made solid timber pieces here in our Whanganui factory. We also have a lot of experience working on commercial projects.

What’s your best piece of advice when it comes to selecting a piece for the home?
If you fall in love with a certain piece that’s not on the list of recommendations, make sure you tell your designer – it’s our job to make it a space you will love for years to come. Also, trust your first pick, often this is the piece you will end up taking home.

What pieces are you particularly loving at the moment at Soren Liv and why?
My absolute favourite pieces now are the Hugo Marla sofa in Copeland Honey and Ponte Console in Golden White Marble. Both pieces are timeless but have been given a modern twist with the fabric colours, button stitch detailing and the comfort of the sofa. From the soft caramel veining and stepped edging on the console, they are both a must have.

What Soren Liv furniture pieces have Newton Kay incorporated into their designs that have stood out to you?
The Juno Aubury sofa. I love that the girls took the risk and mixed and matched it with other sofas. It truly made the sofa stand out in the space.

What do you think stands out about Newton Kay?
The care and thought they put into every space, down to every little detail. Both Lara and Miranda are so lovely to work closely with and truly listen to your clients wants and needs. Can’t wait to see future projects!
