Inside The Close: Part Two, Luxury Retreat in Paihia

In the latest stage of The Close in Paihia, we designed a retreat that captures attention and sparks conversation, while maintaining a sense of calm and considered comfort.

The goal was to create a holiday home that would stand apart in Paihia’s coastal landscape, while complementing the two other retreats we styled for our client on the same street. Architecturally designed by GHD Design, the home feels instantly memorable, luxuriously layered, and full of personality. 

Leaning into refined maximalism, we combined bold patterns, unexpected colour pairings, and sculptural forms to craft a home with presence and charm. Every element, from the expressive upholstery to the playful artwork, was chosen to bring joy and a touch of whimsy, the kind of design moments that make a stay unforgettable.

Artworks by Isobel Harvey, Shannon Heath and Sarah Furzer inject energy and vibrancy throughout, setting the tone for each space and layering in a sense of creativity and place.

Playful furniture selections – including the sculptural Sidi Chair from Amier Home, acrylic side tables from Fenton & Fenton, and custom upholstered headboards in bold patterns bring a sense of modern artistry and individuality, balancing form and function while keeping the mood light and expressive. 

To offset the boldness, we layered in soft, tactile textiles and grounded tones to ensure every room feels harmonious, restful and cohesive. 

Breaking the traditional coastal aesthetic often seen in holiday homes, The Close: Part Two is intentionally designed to be a vibrant, conversation-starting retreat. A home that celebrates creativity, confident design, and a vibrant sensibility. We believe it’s this distinctiveness that will make it stand out, appealing to guests who value modern design and thoughtful details.
